C’mere till I tell ye, ‘mere till you see
In psyche and geography
I’m talking about the area greater

Made with the patter, slang and caustic black humour of Belfast, this autobiographical song cycle reflects on 27-year-old Little King (Matt Regan’s) relationship with Northern Ireland’s capital city. 'Greater Belfast' is an exploration of complex feelings of love and hate for a divided home, an examining and ignoring of its history, and a look towards a future unknown. A moving portrait of a city still aching from the violence of its recent past, this tender new work cuts through the sleech and speaks to the heart.

Alongside the live performance co-produced with Tron Theatre, Little King has collaborated with Julian Corrie aka Miaoux Miaoux (Chvrches, Phantom Band and Mogwai remixer) to create an Edinburgh Fringe album release which will showcase the music and lyricism of the show.

“I want Belfast to become greater and more meaningful in people's hearts and minds. The show can be said to be completely, and yet not at all, about Belfast. It's about looking to the future, and hearing the voices of the past. It's about examining heritage and questioning what one person can do for the place they live, or the place they are from. In the show, the stories of Belfast become prisms, or frames for pictures of hope and despair, optimism and pain, hurt and healing. I feel compelled to share these stories, and the Fringe is the perfect platform for sharing what Belfast's story has to tell. People can expect the patter and black humour of Belfast, the warmth of it's people, the violence of its past, and the hope of it's future.”
